Camper rental Finland to North Cape

Experience Nordkapp

The Rental Motorhome Safari begins from Helsinki, after a full motorhome orientation and refreshments. The first night will be spent in the Finnish lakeland area, from where our lead motorhome will continue towards the national park of Oulanka in Kuusamo. Follow the lead or explore the route at your own pace. On our way to the most northern point of Europe, Nordkapp, we will stop by at Ivalo, the last village before entering the tundra region. If we have clear skies, there is a good chance for Northern Lights.

We will spend one day at Nordkapp with our rental campers, recording this unforgettable memory and enjoying the magical silence and fresh air. On our way back, we will stay overnight in Alta, the capital of northern Norway. Before returning to our rental station in Rovaniemi, we have a chance to visit the real Santa Claus in his village, and take a picture with him.

A more detailed itinerary for this unforgettable rental motorhome experience is found below. Due to local weather conditions and third party services, our daily schedule and/or locations are subject to variation.

Day 1

All participants are provided with VIP transfer services from Helsinki airport or an airport hotel to Touring Cars' rental station in Helsinki. If you make your own way to our rental station, please be there at 9AM at the latest. At the station, after a few welcome words and refreshments, each client will receive a full orientation to their beautiful rental motorhome and the Touring Cars personnel will go through the itinerary and practices. When all campers are packed and all equipment in the rental motorhome is familiar to you, the Touring Cars lead motorhome heads to the road. You can drive at your own pace, or follow the lead car, driven by an English-speaking Touring Cars rental motorhome specialist.

The first night will be spent in the lake area at Kuopio. The drive from Helsinki to Kuopio is approx. 380km long, and it takes about 5 hours. This is the perfect opportunity to mingle around the camp fire, or enjoy the comfort of your own rental motorhome. Perhaps you will take your first winter hiking experience here.

Day 2

After breakfast, we'll continue our drive towards Lapland and our destination, the Nordkapp. Today's drive is approx. 450km long, taking us 6-7 hours. Our destination for today is the Iisakki Village in Ruka, in the beautiful Kuusamo area. Here, you can already feel the true northern athmosphere and silence.  Outdoor winter activities options here are vast: one can try snow-mobile driving, ice-fishing, husky safaris, and so much more. If you wish to try another type of accommodation, you can stay overnight in an igloo.

Day 3

After breakfast and a morning orientation, we will refill the rental motorhomes' water supplies and head towards Saariselkä, Lapland.  This leg is 345km long, taking approx. 5 hours to drive. Our camping area is located near the famous glass igloo village at Kakslauttanen. If you didn't have time yesterday to try all special winter activities, there are plenty of options available in Saariselkä as well.

In the evening, we will gather around the same dinner table and enjoy the delights of the Scandinavian Cuisine.

Day 4

Scandinavian breakfast and orientation. Drive the rental motorhomes to Nordkapp through Sámiland, the home of the thriving Sámi culture. This leg is 450km long, taking 7 hours. For many, Sámiland is the most beautiful place in the world.  Amazing pictures - amazing memories.

Day 5

Breakfast and and planning for another beautiful day in Lapland.  This is your chance to take a selfie at the most northern point on the European mainland. In the evening, if we have clear skies, there is a good chance to see the Northern Lights. Don't forget to bring your camera!

Day 6

Easy morning and breakfast. We'll start the drive from Nordkapp towards Alta, Norway.  Today's drive is only 235km long, and does not take longer than 4 hours. We'll stay overnight at River Camping, and, if we're lucky, enjoy supper under the Northern Lights.

Day 7

After breakfast, we start making our way towards Finland again. Our goal for today is to reach Kilpisjärvi, Finland, which is 330 km from Alta.

Day 8

As usual, the morning starts with breakfast. From Kilpisjärvi, we will head towards the Ylläs/Olos ski resort. Also, the biggest ski resort in Finland, Levi, is only 30km away. This is your opportunity to try your downhill skiing skills. In the evening, we will have dinner together and enjoy our last night together.

Day 9

We will enjoy a good breakfast, and today we will return back to Rovaniemi to return the rental motorhomes. The drive from the Levi area to Rovaniemi only takes 2,5 hours, so there is plenty of time to do some final outdoor activities.
