Day 1 – 2 Manchester – Glasgow
Once you arrive in Manchester you will get a transfer service to our Touring Cars rental station. First you will get an introduction to your rental motorhome and after that, you’re all ready to begin your journey through the wonders of Scotland.
The first day will be driving towards your first Scottish city, Glasgow. On your way to Glasgow, you can stop at Carlisle for example to stretch your legs and see the city before continuing your journey. Carlisle is a colorful city near the border to Scotland and it’s great for shopping. You can also find some great attractions in there like for example the Tullie House Museum and Art gallery, Solway Aviation Museum, Cathedral of Carlisle and the Carlisle Castle.
Once you arrive in Glasgow, you have the rest of the day and the next day to spend there. Plenty of time to experience all it has to offer. Glasgow is the largest city in Scotland and it’s known for its style, culture and friendliness. The city has many museums and other destinations worth a visit. Some of these destinations you should look into for example are Kelvingrove, People’s Palace, Glasgow Necropolis, Hunterian museum and Glasgow Green. We also recommend visiting Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park while you’re in Glasgow, or on the next day when you’re moving towards your next location, Fort William. Loch Lomond is the biggest lake in Scotland and certainly worth seeing.
Day 3 Fort William (Glencoe stop-over)
The third day of your journey will lead you to the Scottish Highlands. You’ll be stopping by Glencoe village before moving on to Fort William, the largest city of The Highlands after Inverness.
Glencoe is an excellent place to start exploring The Highlands. It’s perhaps the most famous glen in Scotland for its beauty, history and ideal location for mountaineering and hillwalking. It’s also a great place for water-sports or just relaxation and suitable for touring the western highlands. Some of the most known mountains you could check out are Buachaille Etive Mòr, Glen Coe and Bidean nam Bian for example. Folk museum of Glencoe is also worth a visit.
After Glencoe it’s time to move on to Fort William for the rest of the day. Fort William holds an important position in Scotland and it’s one of the most popular resorts in The Highlands. It’s located on the shore of Loch Linnhe and under the highest mountain of entire Britain, Ben Nevis. Ben Nevis has a footpath all the way to the top of it that starts close to the town. Fort William is definitely something to check out when visiting The Highlands because of its versatility of the cultural city and the beautiful nature. Some of the sights you should look into in addition to Ben Nevis and Loch Linnhe are the West Highland museum, Steall Waterfall, Commando Memorial, Inverlochy Castle and Glen Nevis. Glen Nevis is one of the most beautiful glens in The Highlands that will surely give you many glamorous pictures.
Day 4 Blair Atholl (Cairngorms visit)
The next day of your camper rental journey takes you to Blair Atholl and the Cairngorms national park if you’re up for a little excursion in the most amazing, breathtaking views. This majestic national park has countless mountains, rivers, lochs, forest paths, wildlife hotspots, distilleries and villages with friendly people. It most definitely gives you just what you need if you want to get away from it all and just relax with the nature wrapped around you.
Blair Atholl is a wonderful village with beautiful scenery all around. There’s a river flowing through the village called Garry and it gives the village a very unique look. Great pictures will be promised. One of the most known castles in Scotland is located here and it’s called the Blair Castle. This magnificent castle acted as a gatekeeper for 700 years to The Highlands. Blair Atholl also provides some wonderful grounds and gardens you can have a tour around. Other great attractions in addition to the Blair Castle would be the The Falls of Bruar and Loch Tummel.
Day 5 Stirling (Perth stop-over)
The fifth day of your journey leads you to these two historical cities that have a lot to offer. We recommend you to stop-over in Perth before continuing to Stirling because it provides a lot worth exploring.
Perth is a city of history, shopping and events. It’s located next to the gorgeous River Tay. We recommend shopping here particularly because the city offers a set of unique and different products with high quality that you can’t find anywhere else. What comes into the attractions, you should take a closer look of the Scone Palace, Huntingtower Castle, Balhousie Castle and Elcho Castle for example to see the history and perhaps the Kinnoull Hill if you’re up for cycling or walking.
After visiting Perth your camper rental journey can continue to Stirling, previous capital of Scotland. It’s a highly historical city and known well for Sir William Wallace, the first freedom fighter in Scotland. The movie “Braveheart” is based on him and you can find the National Wallace Monument in Stirling today. One of the biggest and historically significant castles in Scotland is the beautiful Stirling Castle. You should definitely take a guided tour in the castle to learn about the interesting history and characters in details. Other great attractions you should consider looking into for example are the Blair Drummond Safari park, Stirling Smith art gallery and museum, Church of the Holy Rude and Argyll’s Lodging.
Day 6 Edinburgh
After these 6 days of beautiful Scottish nature and historical cities is time to move on to the capital heart of Scotland, Edinburgh. Edinburgh is one of the most popular city destinations in Britain. It’s known for its rich and interesting history and culture that’s been drawing people in the city all the way from the 18th century. Edinburgh is a very versatile destination with its beautiful buildings and city blocks, landmarks, restaurants, shopping possibilities, events, concerts, nightlife, museums, art galleries, parks and nature sights. Some of the great attractions you could check out for example are the Holyrood Palace, Arthur’s seat, HMY Britain, Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh, Mary King’s Close, Princes Street Gardens, National Gallery of Scotland, St Giles’ Cathedral and of course, the world famous icon of Scotland, Edinburgh Castle. The castle is on the top end of the most popular attractions list in Scotland. It’s built on a high cliff and it can be found from the center of Edinburgh. It’s definitely worth a visit.
